1. Summary
Isabelle's Voodoo Witch Kit is a mobility-heavy battlefield-control kit built around linked consequences, temporary NPC control, animal distraction, self/allied healing, and slower direct melee rather than firearms. The kit lets the player solve stealth encounters by chaining effects across two living targets, redirecting enemy actions, and trading scarce health/charges for powerful control plays while still obeying sight, alarm, enemy-archetype, and resource constraints.
3. Design Intent / Job Story
When a guarded encounter has overlapping vision, resistant enemy types, or targets that cannot be safely handled one at a time, I want to use linked effects, brief mind control, Stella distractions, and healing as one control kit, so that I can create openings, neutralize multiple threats, or recover from damage without turning the encounter into a firefight.
4. Role in Gameplay Loop
- Provides the squad's strongest target-linking and enemy-control layer.
- Converts single-target takedowns, distractions, heals, and damage into multi-target tactical effects through Connect.
- Offers non-firearm solutions for guarded spaces where noise or ammunition would be too risky.
- Creates high-value setup plays for Showdown Mode by preparing linked targets or queued Stella distractions.
- Balances powerful control through HP cost, limited Mind Control charges, Isabelle vulnerability, enemy-type exceptions, and slower melee timing.
5. Preconditions
- A mission includes Isabelle as an available, alive, controllable squad member.
- The selected ability is unlocked and visible in Isabelle's action bar for the current mission state.
- For Connect, at least one valid living target is in range and the target is not dead.
- For Mind Control, Isabelle has more than 1 HP and at least one Mind Control charge remaining.
- For Mind Control, the target is an eligible non-player character or creature; Long Coats require prior damage/stun before control.
- For Stella, the chosen target is eligible for cat distraction and is reachable/targetable by the command.
- For Jimson Weed, the target ally is damaged and reachable/targetable by the heal.
- Enemy perception, alarm, body discovery, and resource systems are active so consequences can resolve normally.

7. Core Rules
- Isabelle's kit is selected and executed through the standard character action bar, with character switching changing available actions and resource counters.
- Isabelle has no firearm; her direct neutralization is handled through sickle melee or controlled/linked effects.
- Sickle melee can be lethal or non-lethal, but its slower timing requires line-of-sight and watcher checks before committing.
- Connect targets two living beings and causes major effects applied to one linked target to reflect onto the other.
- Connect can target enemies, allies, civilians, animals, and incapacitated living targets, but not dead targets.
- Reusing Connect on an already connected target breaks the current link.
- Linked effects include lethal takedowns, non-lethal knockouts, damage, distractions, blinds, lures, accidental kills, indirect deaths, and compatible healing.
- If one connected target is a Long Coat and the other target dies, the Long Coat takes damage and becomes stunned instead of dying instantly.
- Healing one connected allied character with Jimson Weed or another compatible heal heals both connected allies.
- Stella is an indestructible, untargetable companion that can briefly distract eligible enemies and can traverse routes such as ropes, ivies, ladders, and doors.
- Stella's distraction works for normal enemies, has reduced duration on Ponchos, and does not affect Long Coats.
- Mind Control spends one Mind Control charge and deals one HP of damage to Isabelle when successfully used.
- Mind Control cannot be used if Isabelle is at 1 HP, because the HP cost would incapacitate her.
- A mind-controlled target can move within the control radius and perform the action available to its archetype, such as shooting, melee attacking, screaming, barking, biting, clucking, kicking, or goring.
- Mind Control ends when the controlled target leaves Isabelle's control radius, performs an action, or the player cancels it.
- While Mind Control is active, Isabelle cannot move and remains vulnerable to normal enemy perception and attacks.
- Suspicious actions performed by mind-controlled targets can make other enemies attack that target, but the suspicious controlled action itself does not automatically raise an alarm.
- Connect and Mind Control can be combined by linking targets before controlling one of them; the second target receives linked consequences but is not itself mind-controlled.
- Jimson Weed heals one HP with a short cooldown and limited charges where provided by the mission.
- All abilities still obey enemy perception, target eligibility, resource availability, mission scripting, Showdown timing, and save/load restoration rules.
8. BDD Scenarios
Scenario: Connect transfers a takedown
- Given
- Isabelle has connected two living enemies
- When
- Isabelle performs a lethal takedown on that linked enemy
- Then
- the targeted enemy dies
- And
- one linked enemy is valid for a sickle takedown
- And
- the other linked enemy receives the same lethal consequence unless an enemy-archetype exception modifies the result
Scenario: Break an active Connect link
- Given
- two living targets are currently connected
- When
- the player uses Connect on one already connected target
- Then
- the active link is broken
- And
- later effects on either target no longer propagate through that link
Scenario: Long Coat resists linked death
- Given
- a Long Coat is connected to another living target
- When
- the other linked target dies from a lethal effect
- Then
- the Long Coat takes damage and becomes stunned
- And
- the Long Coat does not die instantly from that propagated death
Scenario: Stella distracts an eligible enemy
- Given
- Stella is available
- When
- the player sends Stella to that enemy
- Then
- Stella moves to the target
- And
- a normal enemy is a valid Stella target
- And
- the enemy is distracted for a brief duration without being able to kill or target Stella
Scenario: Stella fails against a Long Coat
- Given
- Stella is available
- When
- the command is attempted
- Then
- the Long Coat is not distracted
- And
- the player targets a Long Coat with Stella's distraction
- And
- the ability communicates or resolves the immunity without implying the Long Coat can attack Stella
Scenario: Mind Control spends health and charge
- Given
- Isabelle has more than 1 HP
- When
- the player activates Mind Control on that target
- Then
- one Mind Control charge is spent
- And
- at least one Mind Control charge remains
- And
- a valid NPC target is in range
- And
- Isabelle loses 1 HP
- And
- the player gains direct control of the target within Isabelle's control radius
Scenario: Mind Control ends on controlled action
- Given
- a target is currently mind-controlled
- When
- the controlled target performs its archetype action
- Then
- that action resolves in the world
- And
- Mind Control ends after the action
Scenario: Mind Control exposes Isabelle risk
- Given
- Isabelle is maintaining Mind Control
- When
- the enemy perception rules detect her
- Then
- Isabelle can be attacked or detected normally
- And
- Isabelle is visible to an enemy while she cannot move
- And
- Mind Control does not protect her from the alarm/perception system
Scenario: Connect and Mind Control combine
- Given
- two enemies are connected
- When
- Isabelle mind-controls that connected enemy and uses it to attack
- Then
- the controlled enemy performs the commanded action
- And
- one connected enemy is valid for Mind Control
- And
- the linked consequence can affect the second target
- And
- the second target does not become mind-controlled
Scenario: Connected healing affects both allies
- Given
- two damaged allies are connected
- When
- one connected ally receives Jimson Weed healing
- Then
- that ally restores health
- And
- the other connected ally receives the compatible linked healing effect
9. Edge Cases
- Connect target dies, is removed, or becomes invalid before the second target is selected.
- A connected target is incapacitated rather than killed; both linked targets should resolve the non-lethal state correctly.
- One connected target is a Long Coat and the propagated effect would normally be lethal.
- Both connected targets are resistant archetypes, such as two Long Coats, and damage/stun resolution must remain consistent.
- A connected target receives a distraction or lure that the other target's archetype normally ignores.
- A connected ally is healed while the other linked target is an enemy, dead, full-health, or otherwise invalid for healing.
- Mind Control is selected while Isabelle has exactly 1 HP or zero charges remaining.
- Mind-controlled target leaves the 35.0 control radius because of player movement, pathing, or commanded movement.
- Isabelle is spotted or attacked while immobilized by Mind Control.
- A mind-controlled target's suspicious action is seen by multiple enemies with different alarm states.
- Long Coat Mind Control is attempted before the Long Coat has been damaged/stunned.
- Stella is sent to a Poncho, Long Coat, unreachable target, or target that changes state before Stella arrives.
- Stella is queued in Showdown while Isabelle moves away before execution.
- Jimson Weed is used on a full-health, dead, unreachable, or invalid target.
- Save/load occurs while Connect, Stella targeting, Mind Control, or Jimson Weed cooldown/resource state is active.
10. QA Notes
- Verify Isabelle's action bar shows the correct kit icons, hotkeys, counters, and unavailable states after character switching.
- Verify Connect accepts living enemies, allies, civilians, animals, and incapacitated targets, and rejects dead targets.
- Verify Connect propagation for lethal takedowns, non-lethal knockouts, distractions, lures, blinds, accident kills, indirect deaths, damage, and compatible healing.
- Verify Connect can be canceled by using it on an already connected target.
- Verify Long Coat linked effects deal damage/stun instead of incorrectly applying instant death from another target.
- Verify Stella cannot be killed or targeted and that her distraction duration is correct for normal enemies, reduced for Ponchos, and ineffective against Long Coats.
- Verify Stella pathing across ropes, ivies, ladders, doors, and Showdown queued targeting where applicable.
- Verify Mind Control spends exactly 1 HP and one charge only on valid use.
- Verify Mind Control is blocked at 1 HP or zero charges without spending resources.
- Verify controlled targets remain constrained to the 35.0 radius and control ends on action, cancellation, or leaving radius.
- Verify each controllable archetype exposes the correct controlled action, including gunmen, Ponchos, damaged Long Coats, thugs, civilians, dogs, chickens, horses, and oxen.
- Verify suspicious actions by controlled targets cause enemy retaliation without automatically raising alarm unless normal perception/alarm rules do so.
- Verify Isabelle remains immobile/vulnerable during Mind Control and can be detected normally.
- Verify Jimson Weed restores 1 HP, respects its cooldown/charge limits, and propagates correctly through valid allied Connect links.
- Verify quicksave/quickload restores links, charges, HP, cooldowns, controlled targets, Stella state, and action bar state.
11. Mechanic Dependencies
- Showdown Synchronized Planning (Showdown planning can synchronize linked takedowns, Stella targeting, and supporting squad actions.)
- Squad Character Ability System (Owns Isabelle's character-specific action bar, resources, movement traits, and target validation.)
- Takedown and Body Control (Sickle kills, knockouts, linked incapacitation, and follow-up body handling depend on takedown/body-control rules.)
- Enemy Perception and Alarm AI (Enemy sight, suspicion, retaliation, body discovery, and alarms decide whether the kit stays stealthy.)
- Lethal and Non-Lethal Combat Resource Limits (HP cost, Mind Control charges, Jimson Weed healing, melee timing, damage, and Long Coat resistance are combat-resource rules.)
- Distraction and Noise Manipulation (Stella, linked distractions, screams, barks, lures, and blinds reuse the broader attention-manipulation rules.)
12. UI Links
- Character Roster And Selected Portrait - Roster and selected portrait identify Isabelle as active and switch the action bar to her voodoo kit.
- Character Action Bar - Action bar exposes Isabelle's ability icons, hotkeys, charges, cooldown/unavailable states, and targeting entry points.
- Showdown Mode Execution Interface - Showdown interface supports queued/synchronized Isabelle actions such as Stella targeting and linked takedown plans.
- Tactical Spatial Markers - Spatial markers communicate ranges, control radius, vision cones, targets, and world-space safety feedback.
